So here's an update on the DeviantArt situation. (yay, how fun...)
So as my previous posts show, I was pretty much banned to the point where I couldn't even see the site, as visiting the front page brought me to a page notifying me that I was banned from the site, even though I wasn't logged in. So here's the kicker...
So I had just bought openCanvas6 as a birthday present for myself and I decided to grab some brush packs for the software from another source. However, one of those sources turned out to be DeviantArt, but I couldn't see the link; I was redirected to the site when I clicked to download them and... Suddenly I can see the page to download them from!? I thought I was going crazy, so I typed up "DeviantArt(dot)Com" on a private tab and... I'm not banned from viewing the site anymore!
I think we can conclude that this was, in fact, a very bad IP ban or shadow ban, I just didn't know DeviantArt even had the technology to create shadow profiles like Facebook does! Of course, desperate to see my friends again who don't use any other platform, I rushed to Gmail to contact DeviantArt staff to appeal my account ban, even hoping to have meeting up with some old friends from there and being able to buy and download resources from their site again as a birthday present, since I obviously wasn't planning to share art there anymore after the torment I faced for years straight for drawing unusual creatures and even receiving killing art showing me being murdered in all of the worst ways possible. I received a response back asking which account I lost access to and I was pretty giddy, excited to finally return. I gave my account name, waited patiently, and got an email back saying...
Nope, I will remain banned and my email is blacklisted from their site. Not only that, but the staff team had confirmed that I am, in fact, banned for life. So I can not return to DeviantArt for as long as I live. Even when I'm 6 feet underground, either mummifying or rotting away in my coffin, I still can't come back.
So they basically just got my hopes up, asking me for my account name, only to give me a giant middle finger in return. Classy, DeviantArt. Just classy.
Just when I thought they couldn't get anymore scummy, they dangle unbanning your account over your head and then tell you to go screw yourself. They don't care if you were banned for no reason, or if you were banned for an actual reason, but since learned from your mistakes like me, they won't let you return, no matter what. (Probably unless you pay them.)
So while I can finally see what's on the site again, I'm banned from the community for the rest of my life. All because of petty drama that I have since learned from and made an effort to improve from.
Whatever. I'm not giving them another penny, and I'm definitely warning everybody I know to stay away from DeviantArt at all costs. I'm just going to wait for another platform to open up while I ride out this dreadful storm.
